Excited to share what we got done in the past week, and reveal some chapter 2 appetizers.
First, let’s recap last week’s goals:
Add Hit Die support to our character sheet – Your character’s Hit Die have been added to the ‘Charges’ section of their sheet.
Short rests involve being able to roll dice on your sheets, which will be useful for other things as well. We added a ‘Rolls’ tab. Clicking the hit die actually triggers the roll automatically, and adds your CON modifier. The same with other values on the sheet (ability scores), with more to come.
Quality of life improvements to currency & item tracking – For now, we’ve added the party’s total gold to the sidebar. The other improvements we have in mind (automatically split item costs, automatically add/remove items to inventory, etc.) require heavier development work but are still on the chopping block.
Layering Resistances and Damage types into our combat engine – This eluded us this week, but is near the top of the list for the coming week.
That’s it for last week’s items. Separately, we used our Bonus Action to release some leveling instructions, which was hotly requested. You’ll notice a new ‘Level-up’ button at the top of your sheet.
Pressing it will generate instructions for advancing your character to 2nd level.
Note that we’re favoring function over form while we shore up the product’s remaining shortcomings as fast as we can. The style and formatting of these new features are likely to change in the future. Visual dice rolls on the sheet with sound effects would be a nice touch, for example.

Barely a day after arriving in Murkport, your party is dispatched beyond the wall and into Hummingweald, the enchanted forest that borders it. The Weald and its Song inspired many of Murkport’s stories and legends, several of which are drawn from the dreadful influence that it exerts on visitors.
While the forest is shrouded in mystery, a few folk have managed to explore it and return with their wits… mostly intact. Confer with them ahead of your expedition, and they may offer valuable advice.
Hummingweald will feature a completely randomized path, including hidden side quests, neutral encounters and combat encounters. We’re excited for you to check it out.
Soon. The writing and assets for chapter 2 are 98% complete, and we’re focused on testing and integrating the combat encounters. Our plan is to release it on day 30 of the Kickstarter, but fair warning – if we need a bit more time to polish combat, we won’t cut corners.
In the meantime
Look out for Backer messages in the coming days, as we begin redeeming some of our rewards (Discord roles, future chapter access). These will be unlocked using unique codes that you’ll simply enter into your rpgwanderer.com Account page. More info to come.
